Tasbet Park hitchhiker robbed of phone and cash in recent incident
Police advise the public to stop hitchhiking because it puts them at a higher risk of danger.
A man’s regular hitchhike in Tasbet Park turned into a robbery ordeal that cost him his phone and cash.
According to the police, a man alleged that on November 6 around 10:30, he was hitchhiking at Tasbet Park when a vehicle with three men suddenly stopped for him.
As soon as he got in, one man allegedly took out a firearm and pointed him, demanding his cellphone along with his bank cards and bank pin.
He reported that they drove to the bank and withdrew money from his account, then left and dropped him off moments into the drive, throwing his wallet with cards at him.
Captain Eddie Hall advises people to stop hitchhiking because it may be cheap, but it is dangerous.
“Rather, consider accessible options for hitchhiking. With a little patience, you will often be able to find at least one acceptable alternative to hitchhiking, such as reliable public transport,” he said.
