Traffic back to normal following Ga-Nala unrest

Initial reports indicated that the protest in the area followed several issues, including evictions of some residents.

Traffic is once again flowing smoothly through the GA-Nala area after yesterday’s service delivery protests that saw residents block the roads to voice their frustrations.

Constable Angel Makubu, SAPS spokesperson in Kriel, officially declared the roads open this morning, signalling a return to normal traffic flow. Motorists are advised to utilize the R544 Road again. With the roads all open, frustrations are still mounting in the area as the eviction is in action. According to the residents, the uproar in the area resulted from several issues, including service delivery and evictions of some residents allegedly by a local mining company.
