Man shot in N4 truck hijacking

Police investigation is still underway, and truck drivers are urged to avoid stopping anywhere on the road.

According to the police, a man was injured after he was shot during a hijack on the N4, Balmoral off-ramp.

The incident occurred on November 17 around 20:45.

A man told the police that he was driving his truck when he noticed that it was losing power, and suddenly four men approached him.

The four men then smashed the driver’s window, and he stopped the truck and jumped to the passenger seat, where he managed to escape through the door to the veld.

The man further told the police that they fired a shot in his direction as he was running, and they shot him in his right leg.

The hijackers followed him in the bushes, where they found him, tied his hands with shoelaces, and covered him with a blanket that they took from the truck.

The hijackers drove off with the truck after they had failed to remove the truck’s tyres.

A police investigation is underway.
