Tyres stolen just days after motorbike vanishes in Blancheville

Crime is picking up in Blancheville. In just two weeks, a motorbike was stolen and earlier this week a bakkie’s tyres.

The Sibiya family on Adele Street in Blancheville woke up to a shocking discovery this morning, their bakkie was sitting on blocks, its tyres completely gone.

The thieves managed to cut through the electric fence and gain entry to the yard without making a sound, leaving the family unaware until dawn.

For the Sibiyas, the realisation they had officially become the latest crime statistic left them uneasy.

The family asked if anyone is seen selling Bantam bakkie tyres, to please contact them: 060 504 4155.

Just more than a week ago, a Honda VT1100 Shadow was stolen out of a yard in Rhoode Street, also in Blancheville.

There is still no trace of the motorbike that holds a lot of sentimental value for Ettiene Becke.

Police spokesperson Captain Eddie Hall, said: “We cannot stress enough the importance of layered security. While electric fences are a deterrent, residents must also ensure their yard lighting is functional and consider wheel-locking mechanisms.”

“We appeal to all residents to report any suspicious activity in the Blancheville area, whether it be unfamiliar vehicles or persons scoping properties, as information sharing is vital to curb this wave of crime,” said the neighbourhood watch chairman Tertius de Lange.

He asked that residents join the WhatsApp group and actively participate in patrolling the neighbourhood.

You can contact De Lange at 061 500 3349.

On November 5 residents in Adela Street also reported their bakkie’s tyres stolen.
