Young girl sent to the store late allegedly raped in Old Coronation

The police urge parents and guardians to stop sending children out during late hours.

A young girl was allegedly raped by a man in Old Coronation as she was sent to the store in the evening.

According to the police, the mother claimed that her 10-year-old daughter was allegedly raped when she went to a local tuckshop at around 18:00 on December 8.

On her way, the girl reportedly explained that she was called by a man who ran after her until he eventually caught her as she refused to come willingly.

The man allegedly took the child to a barbershop in the area, closed the door and allegedly raped her.

The matter was reported to the police, and investigations into the case are underway.

Captain Eddie Hall from Witbank SAPS advised that parents and guardians should stop sending children out during late hours.

“Parents and Guardians should make sure that children are never in the streets during late hours. They must also pay attention to any changes both in a child’s body and behaviour,” Hall said.
