Baby allegedly raped – police investigation continues
Police advise parents and caregivers to never leave children unattended, and encourage women to fearlessly be firm and say no if something is against their will.
The alleged rape of a baby is on the police’s top priority list.
This follows a case that was opened after a woman spoke up when she found her baby’s private parts red and swollen as she changed the girl’s diaper on October 10.
According to the police, the woman said she was told by her kids’ aunt that they had run out of diapers for one of her children.
After hearing nothing back from the aunt the next morning, she decided to go to Extension 11 , where her kids and the aunt are staying.
When she changed the baby’s diaper, she saw that the baby’s private part looked strangely reddish and wide open.
She immediately took the little baby to the clinic, where she was told to go to the police to open a case.
Another incident occurred on the morning of October 12, in which, according to the police, a woman said that she was at a local tavern with her friend when her ex-boyfriend came and forced her to leave with him to his place.
Upon arrival, the man locked the doors and allegedly raped her.
SAPS advises, “Never leave children unattended and always pay attention to any changes both in their body and behaviour.”
For adults, SAPS encourages women to never let anyone touch them in a way that causes them to feel uncomfortable.
“Be firm and clear and say no! No one has the right to force you into sexual activity, no matter what your relationship with the person may be.”
