Bolt driver carjacked at knifepoint in Vosman

A routine bold ride ended in terror in Vosman when three suspects carjacked a driver at knife-point.

A Bolt driver was carjacked at knife-point in Vosman during the early hours of the new year.

According to police, the driver picked up three men at Hlalanikahle, who claimed they were travelling to Vosman.

On the way, one suspect pulled out a knife, threatened the driver, and stole his vehicle along with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Then, later, drove to Kromdraai, tied up the driver, and fled with the car.

“Drivers should always stay alert, keep doors locked and windows up, and stick to well-lit, busy streets. Verify passengers before starting a trip, avoid stopping in isolated areas, and keep valuables out of sight. Trust your instincts, have an emergency plan, and report any suspicious activity immediately,” advised SAPS.

The SAPS has launched a high-priority investigation into the incident, though no arrests have been made at this stage.

This carjacking follows a concerning trend of targeted attacks on bolt drivers in the region.

The atmosphere among drivers in the Vosman and eMalahleni areas is one of heightened anxiety, as they fear for their lives while trying to provide for their families.
The investigation continues.
