Car catches fire – family of 5 rushed to hospital

The cause of the fire is still unknown, but faulty wiring is suspected.

A family of five was rushed to the hospital this morning after their vehicle caught fire on Steve Bantu Biko Street, near Laerskool Klipfontein.

According to Dirk Fourie, a relative of the family who witnessed the incident, they were driving behind the car pulling a trailer this morning when they noticed smoke rising from it.

“By the time we got to them, it was already too late; the fire had already spread,” Fourie said.

The fire department attended the scene to calm the situation, and the father, mother, and three children were all rushed to the hospital for medical examinations.

The cause of the fire is still unknown.

“We are not sure as to what could have been the cause, but we suspect that it could have been a wiring fault,” Fourie said.
