Another GBV attack – this time in Kwa-Guqa

According to the reports, the victim was found unconscious with multiple injuries on her face and body.

Vosman SAPS is investigating a case of attempted murder after a woman was stabbed and locked up inside a house, allegedly by a boyfriend.
The incident occurred on January 8 in Kwa-Guqa Extensions.

According to the police, when they gained entry, the victim was found unconscious with multiple stab wounds on her face and across her body. The suspect was nowhere to be found.

The injured woman was rushed to the hospital for urgent medical care. Police confirmed that the suspect is still at large and investigations are ongoing.

A local GBV survivor and activist, Abongile Mcoki, expressed her deepest concerns over the incident, stressing that women are being brutally attacked in the area.

“I’m extremely concerned about the government’s handling of foreign nationals in South Africa. Daily, we hear horrific stories of crimes committed by individuals from other countries. The recent attempted murder case in Vosman, where a SA woman was brutally attacked, highlights the issue. The perpetrator, allegedly a foreign national, is still at large – likely in another province or country, potentially committing more crimes,” Mcoki said.

“We need to hold our government and police accountable for addressing this issue and ensuring our communities are safe. It’s time for citizens to demand action and solutions,” she added.

Vosman SAPS is currently investigating both cases. Anyone with information that could assist police is urged to contact Vosman SAPS at 013 244 7196 or 079 891 5314.
