Vosman SAPS investigates three house robberies after three families were left on edge at gunpoint
Two were targeted on the same day, and police investigations remain underway.
Vosman Police are investigating three recent house robberies after three houses were raided by armed gangs in different areas.
In the first incident, a local man was left on edge after an attempt to protect himself and his property had failed.
The first incident
The man told police that on January 17, around 20:00, he was driving from a local garage when he noticed a bakkie with no registration number that he suspected was following him.
For his safety, the man drove past his house. However, upon his return home, he noticed another car with no registration number.
He was then approached by two armed men, who praised him or the good work he is doing for his community.
The man was promised that he would not be killed if he obeyed them.
The man told the police that the duo entered his house, and they were joined by seven men.
They raided the man’s house and made off with three TVs, a table, shoes, cash, and other items.
The police investigation is underway; however, no arrest has been made yet.
The second incident
In the second incident, a man told the police that on the same evening as the first incident , he was accompanying his wife outside the house to give food to the dog when they were met by two men at their door.
The men pushed them inside the house, pointed a firearm at them, and instructed them to lie on the floor. The couple was robbed of their cash and a cellphone and left on the scene.
No arrests have been made, and police are investigating the matter.
The third incident
In the third incident, a week prior, a man claimed his house was raided by a man he knows.
According to the police, the man was sitting in his room when the man entered, pointed a firearm at him, and demanded money from him.
The man further told the police that he refused to give him money; however, he forcefully opened his wardrobe, took the money and his phone. The man fled the scene with his TV, phone, and cash.
The police are urging residents to be extra vigilant and ensure their doors are always locked.
Vosman SAPS is currently investigating all the cases. Anyone with information that could assist police is urged to contact Vosman SAPS at 013 244 7196 or 079 891 5314.
