Man stabbed over ‘no money’ in Extension 14

Police advise the public to go in pairs when going to spaza shops at night or postpone altogether.

Vosman SAPS is continuing its hunt for two men who stabbed a man and left him in a pool of blood in Extension 14.

According to the police, a man said that in the evening of January 9, he left his home to buy cigarettes at a nearby spaza, not knowing he would be met by tragedy on his way back.

The man reported that as he walked back, he was approached by two men who took out knives and demanded money from him.

They reportedly got upset when they couldn’t get any and stabbed him twice in the chest before fleeing the scene. The victim’s son discovered him lying in a pool of his own blood and rushed him to the hospital.

The Vosman SAPS launched an investigation into the matter; however, no arrests have been made to date. The police urge the public to always be vigilant around spaza shops during late hours.

“We also plead with shop owners to stop letting these boys hang in their stores all day, not doing anything, because that is where the problem starts,” Captain Vusi Mnisi from VosmanSAPS said.

“When you really need to go to the store late, make sure to go in pairs, or at best, postpone for the next day,” he added.

Anyone with information that could assist the police in this case is urged to contact Vosman SAPS at 013 244 7196 or 079 891 5314.
