Witbank High former principal dies

Further details regarding memorial arrangements will be announced soon.

The Witbank High School community is mourning the loss of its former principal, Fanus Buys, who passed away yesterday following a stroke.
The news was confirmed by his son, Stephan Buys, who expressed the family’s deep grief.

“We are heartbroken by the sudden loss,” Stephan shared.

Stephan said in accordance with his father’s final wishes, the family has opted for cremation. His ashes will be scattered on the farm where he grew up, returning him to the place of his childhood.

Details regarding a memorial service to honour his life and legacy will be shared with the public as soon as the arrangements are finalised.
Beyond his professional achievements, Buys was known for his steadfast dedication to education and his ability to mentor both staff and students with a firm yet kind hand.
