The news that Hennie Beukes from Pets and Plant passed away left the community in mourning.

He passed away on May 31.

Elene Ivy Jacobs, Hennie’s daughter said her dad was a rock in the community and always assisted where he could with the poor and needy.

Hennie played an integral role in the building of Duvha Power Station as he was part of the team that build the power station.

He also built a lot of homes in Highveld Park.

He was the core behind businesses like South East Properties, Pets Inn and Pets and Plant.

Hennie was a Cycad collector of note and often gave a lot of advice and tips on this plant species.

His passion for the ancient Cycads turned a personal hobby into a lifelong legacy of conservation and education.

Hennie was laid to rest on June 5.
