Toddler and woman allegedly sexually assaulted in eMalahleni

Police advise parents and caregivers to never leave children unattended, and warn women against walking in the streets at night.

Witbank Police is investigating two disturbing incidents of sexual assault that targeted a toddler and an adult.

In the first incident, suspected to have occurred in the space between December 2025 and June 2026, an investigation has been launched into the sexual abuse of a three-year-old.

The toddler’s grandmother told the police that she became concerned when she noticed her granddaughter wetting herself shortly after returning from a visit to her father’s homestead in Klarinet.

It is said that when questioned, the child explained that her private part was in pain, further alleging that her uncle sexually violated her during her visit in Klarinet.

The woman said medical assessments conducted by a doctor confirmed the sexual abuse.

In another incident that occurred on June 5 around 18:30, a woman said she left her home to visit a friend in Siyanqoba.

As she waited for transport, she got a lift from a vehicle that had two men inside.

The situation took an unexpected turn when the lady reached her destination and got out of the vehicle, followed by the passenger who had also been inside.

She told the police that as she started walking, the man grabbed her and pulled her into the bushes.

Thereafter, the woman said she was allegedly strangled and raped by the man who fled the scene soon after.

Investigations into both cases are underway, with SAPS advising women to refrain from walking in the streets at night.

They also encourage parents and guardians to always be careful about the men around their children.

“Never leave children unattended and always pay attention to any changes both in their body and behaviour,” SAPS advised.
