Siyanqoba man forced to transfer cash during armed robbery
SAPS advises the public to build high fences around their houses and keep their gates secured.
A resident was tied up and robbed of his cellphone and cash during an armed house robbery at his home on August 31.
According to police, the man was at his home at about 19:00 when he heard a knock at the door. Before he could establish who was outside, the door was allegedly kicked open and two men entered the house.
According to reports, the armed suspects assaulted him before tying him up with shoelaces and forcing him to transfer money from his bank account to the suspects.
They fled the scene with the victim’s cellphone and cash.
A case was opened at Witbank SAPS, and investigations are under way as police continue to search for the suspects.

SAPS has urged residents to take precautionary measures to improve security around their homes.
The public is advised to build a high fence around their properties and install lockable gates, as this can make access more difficult while allowing for better visibility.
“Ensure that your gates and doors are locked at all times, and that the keys cannot be reached easily,” said SAPS.
SAPS recommends the following measures to prevent access:
• Burglar bars
• Security doors
• Security gates
• Razor wire
• Additional locking devices on doors
• Strengthening of doors
• Peepholes in doors
• Safety chains on doors
• An intercom between the home and gate.
