Motorists across eMalahleni are urged to exercise heightened caution on the roads this week, as learners from several schools throughout the city wear civvies instead of their usual uniforms.
The change comes as a cold front grips large parts of Mpumalanga and other provinces, prompting schools to allow learners to wear warmer clothing.
Cold front prompts uniform changes
Hoërskool Patriot encouraged learners to attend classes in civvies, while Laerskool Taalfees advised its pupils to wear the school’s PE tracksuits to stay warm.
With these adjustments, learners may be harder for drivers to identify, increasing the need for vigilance around school zones, pedestrian crossings and residential areas.
