Cambridge Academy’s U15 girls’ hockey team crowned Noordvaal champions in Tzaneen
The Cambridge Academy side capped off an undefeated season without conceding a single goal during their tournament run in Limpopo.
Cambridge Academy’s U15 girls’ hockey team achieved its season-long goal by winning the Noordvaal Small Schools Tournament, finishing as champions without conceding a single goal.
The tournament concluded on August 2 in Tzaneen, Limpopo. The victory capped off an undefeated season and marked a proud milestone for the school and the eMalahleni community.
Coach praises players’ dedication
Coach Mia Gunter said the achievement was an incredibly proud moment for the team and a testament to the dedication, commitment and hard work of every player throughout the season.
“From the very beginning, we had one clear goal: to win the Noordvaal tournament,” Gunter said.
Gunter also expressed gratitude to Cambridge Academy, parents and supporters. She noted that the unwavering support of the community played a significant role in the team’s success, adding that the encouragement received along the way strengthened the players’ resolve.

“I could not be prouder of this remarkable group of girls,” Gunter said.
Looking ahead, the coach hopes this milestone is only the beginning. “We continue to build on this success, keep raising the bar and never stop working hard to achieve even greater goals,” she said.
Strong regional performance

The historic win was complemented by the Cambridge Academy first team girls, who finished fourth overall against strong regional competition. Cambridge Academy is celebrating its Little Lions for the milestone marked.
