Curro Bankenveld girls’ hockey team bags bronze in Tzaneen
After overcoming a tough semi-final defeat, Curro Bankenveld rallied to defeat Cambridge in the playoff match at the Small Schools Noordvaal Festival.
Curro Bankenveld is beaming with pride after its first girls’ hockey team earned a bronze medal at the Small Schools Noordvaal Festival in Tzaneen.
Although the girls had suffered a semi-final defeat in the tournament, which ran from July 31 to August 2, they bounced back with great resilience in the third/fourth-place playoff against Cambridge, securing a win that earned them the medal.
School praises team’s resilience
“Champions aren’t only measured by the colour of their medals, but by the heart they show when it matters most, and this team showed plenty of it,” the school said. “To return home as Noordvaal Bronze Medallists is a remarkable achievement and one that every member of the Curro Bankenveld family can celebrate.”

Curro Bankenveld congratulated the girls, expressing its pride and joy over their accomplishment.
“To our players, coaches, and parents, thank you for your dedication, commitment, and unwavering support throughout the tournament. You have represented Curro Bankenveld with pride and have once again shown what it means to wear the blue and white,” the school said.
eMalahleni senior athletes took their A-game to Middelburg for the district Golden Games, where they represented the City of Coal with great pride.
