Three archers from Cambridge Academy are gearing up to compete on the national stage at the National Inter-Schools Competition in September.
The talented trio comprising Nicolas Menezes, Divan Barnes and Kaelo Kokome will travel to Jeffreys Bay on September 30 to hit their mark among the cream of the crop in the country.
Aiming for top spots
Nicolas is eight years old and said he started archery because his mother encouraged him to try it.
“I am super-duper excited to compete nationally. I am going to have fun and do my best,” said Nicolas.
Divan (9) was only five years old when he picked up a bow for the first time on February 6, 2023. Three weeks later, he competed in his first competition.
“I am very excited,” Divan said before dashing out to his next practice session.
Kaelo (8) started archery at the beginning of the year and quickly earned his spot among the elite, sharing his team-mates’ excitement for the national event.
