Toyota Corolla stolen in eMalahleni parking lot as CCTV captures suspects in action
Though the incident was captured on a CCTV camera, the vehicle’s whereabouts remain unknown.
Lazarus Nkogatse is calling on the community to help locate his vehicle after it was stolen from a shopping centre parking lot in eMalahleni at 20:00 on August 28.
Nkogatse had parked his Toyota Corolla in the customers’ parking area during the early evening before entering the shopping centre, but returned later that night to find his vehicle had disappeared.
“I noticed that my car was not there and I immediately rushed to obtain the CCTV footage,” said Nkogatse. “The suspects did not take long to unlock and open my car.”
Nkogatse said the footage shows one suspect gaining access to the vehicle before handing it over to a second individual, who drove off with the car. The theft occurred within a short time, leaving the owner with little opportunity to recover the vehicle.
Police investigation under way
A case of vehicle theft was opened with Witbank SAPS, and police confirmed the matter is under investigation and the vehicle has not yet been recovered.
The stolen vehicle is a Toyota Corolla bearing registration number CPL 202 MP.
