King Cobra to launch three albums in one night
The eMalahleni-born artist is gearing up for the launch of three new chapters in his popular uLwazi series, which will bring real-life stories and experiences to listeners.
eMalahleni’s musician Sphesihle Elvis Mgwenya, better known by his stage name King Cobra, is making bold moves in the music industry as he prepares to launch three new albums on the same night.
The 28-year-old artist has built a growing reputation through his unique storytelling style, which blends hip-hop, Afro-inspired sounds, and real-life experiences into music that resonates with listeners.
King Cobra is currently working on three upcoming projects under his popular uLwazi series. The albums, titled uLwazi Book 3: iZithembiso Zentuthu, uLwazi Book 4: iNcwadi Ebhlungu, and uLwazi Book 5: uKuzikhulula, will each feature 10 tracks inspired by everyday struggles, personal experiences, and the realities faced by many South Africans.
Known to fans as the ‘uLwazi Story Teller’, King Cobra said his passion for music began more than a decade ago.
“I started music in 2013, but I became fully serious about it in 2015. My first storytelling album, uLwazi, was released in 2022, followed by uLwazi Book 2 in 2023. Music became my way of expressing real-life situations and connecting with people through truth and experience,” he said.
Raised by his grandmother between Kwa-Guqa Ext 11 and Ermelo, King Cobra says his upbringing played a significant role in shaping both his character and his music.
His latest project, iQiniso, continues his mission of sharing honest and relatable stories through song.
Over the years, King Cobra has collaborated with organisations and creatives, including Unlocking Minds NPO, the Witbank Hip Hop Awards, and several local artists.
