Unknown male found deceased on N4

Police suspect murder after finding body on N4

A body of an unknown male was recently found on the N4 highway by a truck driver.

The driver saw the body on July 22 on the side of the road and first thought that the man was sleeping.

Only once the driver was coming back from his intended destination, did he see the man still lying there and stopped.

He then discovered the man was deceased and phoned the police.

Police noted that the victim had an open wound around his heart and appeared to have been stabbed with a sharp object.

A cloth mask was also found around the victim’s neck.

A bread knife, suspected of being the murder weapon, was found about 20 metres from where the body was discovered.

Witbank police spokesperson, Sergeant David Ratau, said that the victim was handed to Witbank Pathology Services and a case of murder was opened at Witbank SAPS
