‘Oss sensei, until we meet again’ – karatekas pay last respect to sensei

The family is still busy with funeral arrangements for the beloved sensei.

Karatekas from Samurai Dojo paid tribute to their sensei who died in a car accident earlier this week.

They gathered in Samurai Dojo where sensei Filip Houndalas’ photo was placed in the middle of the floor on Wednesday, January 11.

Filip was on his way to work in Johannesburg when he crashed into a light utility vehicle close to Phola on the N12.

The 56-year-old Filip opened Samurai Dojo in 1990.

Since then hundreds of karatekas trained under him.

He had a seventh-dan black belt.

Pastor Johnny Fraser from PPK Mooi Hawens described Filip as a person with the biggest heart.

“Filip was a bible class teacher at our church. He will always be fondly remembered for his positivity and his friendly broad smile. We pray for strength for the family,” Pastor Fraser said.

The family is still busy finalising funeral arrangements.
