School Opening Address at Ilanga Secondary School

“Their dedication and performance towards their studies will build their character as they grow into adulthood,” the mayor encouraged.

The Executive Mayor of Emalahleni Local Municipality Clr Conny Nkalitshana opened the first assembly for the year at Ilanga Secondary School in Ward 21, Tasbet Park.

The purpose of the visit was to evaluate the state of readiness of the school as the year begins.

The report provided by the school principal Mr Naidoo will be submitted to the MEC for the Provincial Department of Education.

Checking the state of readiness as compared to the previous year involved matters such as school policies, the provision of textbooks, furniture, transport, the feeding scheme and the overall discipline of the school.

On 11 January 2023, the Executive Mayor addressed the learners and emphasized the importance of discipline that will shape their attitude toward the school’s conduct, “their dedication and performance toward their studies will build their character as they grow into adulthood,” the mayor encouraged.

The visit from the Executive Mayor was appreciated by both teachers and learners, Councillor Conny Nkalitshana made a commitment to continuously check on the progress of the problems that were identified and aim to improve and resolve them.
