The municipal water supply system is under extreme pressure as demand exceeds supply
The municipality requests communities to be patient and urges community members with water supply to continue using water sparingly.

Several areas in eMalahleni have been experiencing an affected water supply since January 31.
According to the municipality, the water supply system is under extreme pressure as demand far exceeds supply.
Scorching high temperatures during the heat wave and electricity interruptions worsen the situation.
The municipal water plant and other schemes operate optimally but cannot cope with the demand; therefore, some areas are without water supply.
The municipality intends to implement contingent measures to ensure that all consumers have access to the minimum water supply.
The measures include shutting off the water supply to some areas whilst building capacity to supply others in an alternative manner.
Further discussions are ensuing with other water scheme operators to increase pumping to the municipality.
This will take place until the water supply stabilises.
