Help DM Motsaosele’s choir sing their way to Pietermaritzburg
A local school choir is asking for support to help 70 learners travel to a major choral event in Pietermaritzburg.
The choir from DM Motsaosele Secondary School, led by teacher and conductor Godfrey Zunguza, is preparing to take part in a major choral event in Pietermaritzburg this August.
The group is asking for support to help make their trip possible for 70 learners. Last year, the choir achieved great success when they competed in the Motsepe Choral Competition and reached the national stage, where they won first position.
“That’s when we got recognised,” said Godfrey. “We made it to the national stage and obtained position one. It was a big moment for the learners and the school.”
He said the experience was very important for the learners.
“I’m very excited for the children. It is a big opportunity for them. The choir is working hard, the children are talented, and they are hungry for this opportunity,” he said.
The school is also asking for help to buy matching tracksuits for the choir’s trip to Pietermaritzburg. The aim is to make sure the learners look neat, feel united, and represent the school well.
“We want them to look professional and feel proud as a team,” said Godfrey.
People who want to help, can contact the principal, Oupa Ndlozi, on 013 553 3751.
This year, the choir will return to the national stage with hopes of performing well again in the Motsepe competition.
“We are ready to defend our title as we go again this year,” he added.
