Nkangala athletes ready to take on the best at ASA Championships

Nkangala Athletic Academy is set to take on the country’s best after selecting athletes across six age categories for the South African Cross Country Championships in Pretoria.

Nkangala Athletic Academy athletes will represent Athletics Mpumalanga at the 2026 Athletics South Africa National Cross Country Championships in Pretoria on September 5.

The academy has selected a well-balanced team spanning the sub-youth, youth, junior, U23, senior and 35+ categories, in line with its succession plan.

Selected athletes

The selected athletes are Bundo Mabunda, Mbali Ngomane, Thandolwethu Motha, Thanduyise Motha, Khethiwe Caster K Mlangeni, Tshegofatso Mtsweni, Gugulethu Thanjekwayo, Gift Senamela, Zamane Mosotho, Minenhle Nkonde, Mpendulo Simelane, Zimpendulo Simelane, Bohlale Mabaso, Zano Mkhize, Mbelezeli Magagula, Karabo Mathebula, Nkosinathi Skosana, Lucky Lucky Tsotetsi, Pule K Mabaso, Sbeko Ntando, Lesigo Mabaso, Bonginkosi Gininda, Maria Kunene and Siphesihle Msimango.

Long-term development

The academy said the broad age-group representation reflects its long-term approach to athlete development and succession planning.

“We are looking forward to the competitive challenge to put our athletes out of their comfort zone,” said coach Emmanuel Mabaso.
