Where is the water?

Democratic Alliance Councillor for Ward 18, Cllr Landi Breetzke, has had her hands full but not with water.

Landi Breetzke writes:
Residents of Ben Fleur Extension 3 have been without water for the past 10 days.
This has been reported to the designated department and officials via email, SMS and WhatsApp. The standard response is that the water levels in the reservoir are low but that they are filling up. The natural, knee-jerk response to that would be: “For 10 days?”

Additionally, the water pressure in Reyno Ridge has been at an all-time low for the past four weeks. Again, there are many unanswered questions, one of which would be: “Are the valves in fact open?”
The most unfortunate (and confusing) part is that despite the residents having no or very little water, no changes are ever visible in the billing for water usage.

Clearly the residents of this ward and others in the city who are experiencing very similar problems, Ward 22 to name but one, are expected to pay up for services not rendered.
Councillor Breetzke will circulate a petition so that residents have some outlet with which to indicate their frustration at the manner in which their needs and their requests for essential services are ignored. Tax paying residents deserve better.
