Ivan takes first place at first race
Powerboat South Africa (PSA) first race took place this weekend at Barham Bay.
It was the first racing event for the year that was held on Sunday, January 26 and many boats arrived for this event.
The L1 class was won by Ivan Terblanche with a titanic battle by John-Ross Duncan in second and Nico Wessels in third. The second heat saw some close racing between the three L1 pilots.
In the L4 class for 200hp motors it was also a close racing.
Ernest Tope and Jolene Labushagne took first place, second place went to Bart Henrico and Johan Henrico and in third place was Steve Barham and his co-pilot.
In the L5 class for 150hp motors what one can only say this class gave great racing and there was never a dull moment, as they were always battling for first place.
The first place went to Petrus Whiteman and Ben Gryling, Edwin Dalgleish and Luan Coetzee were second.
In the 85/90hp class, this was a good class battle for first place; Charl Noude (first place), Eddie Dalgleish new pilot from eMalahleni (second), Willie Groenenstein (third), Johan Henrico (fourth), Lionel Duncan (fifth) and Lee Sampson new pilot from eMalahleni (sixth).
In the junior race, Nikita Tromp was first, second place went to Triston Barham, third place Nico Henrico, Lei-Ann Tope was fourth, new junior pilot from eMalahleni Geraldine Whiteman came fifth and Lea Sampson also a new junior pilot from eMalahleni, came sixth.
Only two raced in the F30 class, Christiaan Willemse came first and Nikita Willemse came second.
