ABC Boxing Camp grows from strength to strength
ABC Development Program undertaken by the club under the leadership of boxing legend Paul ‘Sika’ Tshehla is bearing fruits.
The club started with the program this year with two registered boxers, Thomas Dladla (mini-flyweight) and Andile Mabilisa (welterweight).
The club would like to thank Tshehla for coming with the development program. Currently they have seven pro boxers.
The boxers are: Thomas Dladla (mini-flyweight), Andile Mabilisa (welterweight), Akon Dibi (welterweight), Xolani Dladala (welterweight), Macsood Sando (light weight) from Malawi, Caiphus Manale (junior feather weight) and Martinus Els middleweight).
“The development program assisted us in a big way because we plan to send two more boxers to the trials in September, Osea Mosehla (middleweight) and Simphiwe Gwabeni (welterweight). The team now has four kick-boxers,” said Lawrence Ngobeni.
Martinus Els is now a pro campaigning at middleweight, while Bongani Macassa has left kick boxing completely. Osea Mosehla and Xolani Silothile will participate in both sporting codes (boxing and kick boxing).
Jimmy Tshehla and Simphiwe Gwabeni are the two team captains. One is in charge of the juniors while the other is in charge of the seniors.
“Macsood Sando is improving and is committed to the training program, if he is keeping to the pace, he will surely make his pro debut next month, watch the space. He is nicknamed ‘Hammer’ because if he catches his opponent with his right hand, he is gone,” added Ngobeni.
