Being Boksmart
A BokSmart training seminar was held at HTS with many coaches and referees from schools across Emalahleni.
The three-hour seminar was held on August 18 and covered subjects such as identifying spinal injuries, field safety, and scrum safety among other topics.
BokSmart is a Rugby Safety Programme initiated by the South African Rugby Union (SARU) and Chris Burger/Petro Jackson Players Fund, to reduce the number of catastrophic head, neck and spine injuries to rugby players in South Africa.
“Since the introduction of BokSmart the number of players contracting catastrophic head, neck and spine injuries have lowered dramatically,” said Francois Coetzee, BokSmart trainer.
