Thandi aced that one

Will it be an eagle or a birdie? No, it is a hole-in-one for Thandeka Hlatshwayo.

Will it be an eagle or a birdie? No, it is a hole-in-one for Thandeka Hlatshwayo.
This outspoken young lady started playing golf as a hobby on and off late in 2012.

“With my dad that is a golfer and my cousin that started playing golf I decided, well if you can’t beat them, join them so I tried it and the rest is history,” said Thandi.

On May 14 even with the cold, wet and windy weather conditions Thandi was ready for a good round of golf when the unexpected happened.

Thandeka Hlatshwayo is one of the few people that aced a hole-in-one at the Bankenveld Golf Club.

“I was playing the better-ball competition and shot a 74, and this was the day I got my first hole-in-one,” she said.

Before her ace she had a close call with a hole-in-one but missed it with twenty centimetres.
Thandi’s strongest part of the game will be her chipping and pitching.

“Daily I work at Bankenveld Golf Estate in a golf store, so I really do like my golf, my favourite professional golfer is Rory Mcllroy because he is a phenomenal driver of the ball and he is exceptional in all the areas of the game,” said Thandi.

If she had to choose any other sport besides golf, her preference will be tennis or cricket. “But luckily I can still choose golf, I am not a pro golfer yet but there will be one day,” she said proudly.
But first Thandi and her coaches, Juan van Greunen and Danel van den Burg are helping her work on her game.

“We are working on my driver, mainly how to hit the ball so that I can get more distance of the tee and that is straight towards the intended target as well as my mid-low irons,” she added.

With a handicap of seven Thandi’s motto in life is, “Que sera sera, whatever will be, will be.”
