Winter sports shine at Curro
Curro Bankenveld hosted the eastern region inter Curro 7’s tournament.
The tournament took place on Saturday, April 12. The tournament focused on winter sports, namely rugby, netball and hockey.
Saturday was the Inter Curro 7s Tournament of the Eastern Region for rugby, netball and hockey. The purpose of the eastern region tournament is to select a side of players that will go through to the nationals tournament held later this year.
Curro schools that took part in the tournament included Bankenveld, Embury College, Mount Richmore, Hillcrest, Nelspruit, Meridian Karino and Northern Academy.
Hoërskool Generaal Hertzog and Laerskool Reynorif took part in the tournament assisting Curro with filling the roster allowing for evenly placed teams.
Winners of the 7s rugby were Curro Nelspruit (u.11), Curro Bankenveld (u.13), Curro Bankenveld (u.15), and Northern Academy (u.19).
The hockey winners were Curro Bankenveld (u.11 boys), Curro Nelspruit (u.11 girls), Curro Bankenveld (u.15 boys), Curro Hillcrest (u.15 girls), and Curro Bankenveld (u.19 boys and girls).
The netball winners were Curro Nelspruit (u.11 and u.13), Northern Academy (u.15 and u.19).
The Curro Nationals 7s tournament for the primary schools will be hosted at Curro Mossel Bay from June 20 to 21, the nationals for the high schools will take place at Curro Aurora, Johannesburg from June 24 to 25.
