The White Rose Hospice is in need

The White Rose Hospice was established in 2003, when a gap in the medical system was identified. There was a major need for basic general nursing care for the terminally ill in eMalahleni.

At first the White Rose Hospice was only a home based care organisation but it was quickly identified that there was a great need for an inpatient unit. With the help and support of local and national Companies and the community, our inpatient unit was opened in November 2003.

Although Anglo American (Greenside Colliery) is busy upgrading the hospice and adding a frail care unit that will be completed within the next two months, White Rose Hospice is still in need of funds to cover the running costs for taking care of terminally ill patients.

If the project is completed there will be 18 beds available at R6 600 per month for frail patients.
Donations to White Rose Hospice are tax deductable.

“There will always be people sick and dying for whatever reason and we need to be there for them to give dignity and love in their final hours. There is nowhere else in this area for these patients to be cared for in their final days. White Rose Hospice gives quality palliative care to all our patients regardless of colour, creed or religion,” the director, Magda Esterhuizen said in closing.
