Two suspects detained for attempted murder

A man from eMalahleni was stabbed three times with a beer bottle during an alleged break-in

Witbank Police apprehended two suspects on allegations of attempted murder.

They were caught by community members after they allegedly stabbed a man with a bottle. According to the police report, on Sunday, May 5, the incident took place at a business on Bethal Road around 03:30 where the complainant said that he was sleeping inside the store when he heard someone trying to force open the entrance.
Two suspects managed to get into the premises.
One of them was allegedly carrying a bottle of beer, and when they noticed the complainant lying down, one of the suspects allegedly began stabbing him with the broken bottle.
The victim told police he was stabbed three times before he fell.
One of the suspects allegedly began kicking him while he was lying down, bleeding from a stab wound.
Community members who saw what was happening ran to the victim’s aid.

They transported him to the nearest hospital.
After they attempted to run, the suspects were caught by community members who waited for the police to show up.
Both individuals have been apprehended, and authorities are presently conducting further investigations into this case.

According to Sergeant David Ratau, spokesper from Witbank police station, the two suspects did appear in court. The case was postponed.
“If you witness a shop being robbed or any other offense, please report it,” Ratau said.
