A 19-year-old woman was allegedly raped behind a tavern and a case was reported to Witbank Police Station.
The rape took place on Saturday, June 25 at 22:00 in the Klipfontein area.
The young woman alleged that she was with her sister at a lounge. Later she decided she wanted to buy water at the petrol station convenience store on her way from the lounge.
While walking she came across an unknown man who grabbed her by her clothes and pushed her against a truck and dragged her past the tavern.
The 19-year-old alleged that he was holding her on the right hand side as if they were together.
He then threatened that he would shoot her if she does not do as she is told, he undressed her behind the tavern.
He undressed himself and then raped her; she managed to run away from the scene after the incident occurred.
The suspect is unknown to the victim.
“The sad part is that almost 90% of rape crimes reported, are family or close friends. It is then impossible to send victims back to the problem, after they have come looking for help. We take them through the whole process and we walk a long road with them through counselling. We also prepare them for the court proceedings” said Ms Antionette Deiner from Victim Support.
“We build a database with hotspots for places it occurs a lot, and this way serial rapists can be caught. If your child is kidnapped, they are used as prostitutes and are being fed drugs. This has become such a big part of reality. We can not take the pain away but we can help you have a fulfilled life,” concluded Deiner.
