The Premier was accompanied by the MEC for Human Settlement, Speedy Mashilo together with the Executive Mayor of eMalahleni, Cllr Linah Malatjie in presenting the house on Thursday, August 12.

Ms Martha Matjomabe (70) shed her joy and happiness after being presented with her house at Siyanqoba by the Premier of Mpumalanga, Refilwe Mtshweni-Tsipane.
The widow will now for the first time in her life have proper shelter over her head. The house is also well furnished, and she also received groceries.
The Premier was accompanied by the MEC for Human Settlement, Speedy Mashilo together with the Executive Mayor of eMalahleni, Cllr Linah Malatjie in presenting the house on Thursday, August 12.
Premier Mtshweni-Tsipane said Gogo Matjomabe who has been staying in a shack for a number of years will now be able to live in a proper house with her children and grandchildren. She also added to say that they were keeping to their promise as the provincial government to build houses for all those who qualify to have houses.
“We have already built a number of houses, and we are in the process of handing over the houses to their owners in the coming weeks. We will be heading to Hendrina and then Gert Sibande to hand over to the beneficiaries. We are following the process according to the list from the different municipalities. Furthermore, we prioritise the elderly, the disabled and child-headed families. We urged all those that qualify to register for an RDP house in their municipalities,” explained the Premier.
Gogo Matjomabe said she has been living in a leaking roof shack for more than 26 years and at one time was taken off the waiting list, but now finally she is an owner of a house.
She thanked the Premier, MEC Mashilo and the mayor for making sure that she was one of the beneficiaries of a house.
Some residents of the area took advantage of the Premier and the MEC’s presence to raise their concerns; the burning issue was that of electricity and water.
They pleaded with the Premier to provide them with Jojo tanks because they sometimes stay for more than two weeks without water.
Another issue raised was that of a clinic and a school in the area.
They say the elderly go to the nearby forest to relieve themselves, which is dangerous, and they are also disabled people who struggle when there is no water in the area.
The Premier promised that they will do something about the issues raised and give a report after taking it to the different departments.
She also promised that a mobile clinic or two will be put in the area after consultations with the Department of Health and land will have to be found to build a school.
