Concerned children came to the rescue for a dog called ‘Valente’

Witbank SPCA is one phone call away.

Witbank SPCA was contacted by concerned children from Kwa-Guqa after they spotted a poor dog that was abandoned.

The alert came through on December 4 where, according to the children the dog was abandoned and left for close to seven days, tied to a tree without any food or water.

“After the complaint came through we asked the children to give the poor dog some food and water until we get there; the children immediately gathered some food and water,” said staff from the SPCA.

With the scars on his face, you could see he had a hard life, neglect, mange, and almost no teeth from surviving from scrapes, bones or whatever kept his old body going. So he was named ‘Valente’ which means brave.

“He greeted us with a friendly face, allowing us to cut him loose and yet so gentle after all he has been through in his life. Guess he prayed for so many days or even years for the touch of a gentle hand, which happened today,” they added.

After a vet assessment with a sad and heavy heart, the SPCA had to make a sad and hard decision and decided it was time to end his suffering and let him fly pain-free over the rainbow bridge.

“He was loved until the end till the end and now can run free. We would like to give a huge thank you to the children who saw him and cared enough to contact us. Bless you, animal warriors; the world is a better place with you in it,” they concluded.
