Tips on how to style a wig purchased from LolaSilk

Wigs can be styled and maintained in different ways. How can this be done?

As soon as you’ve got your hands on your new Brazilian wig, you’ll need some ideas on how to style it. You can weave, curl, or dye your new Brazilian hair to your heart’s content with the human hair wigs in South Africa available on the market today. Before you settle on a final look, consider these six useful tips before making a final style decision.

Tip one

Don’t be afraid of trimming your Brazilian hair wig to perfectly fit your style. Sometimes you can buy a super expensive wig and feel you might ruin it by cutting any bit of it. But the truth is, there are so many different types of heads, foreheads, hairlines, and necks that sometimes it is extremely necessary to make a few small adjustments in length, especially when you are buying fringe wigs. The fringe needs to fit onto your forehead and perfectly frame your face, and you can only feel that the Brazilian wig is sitting properly on you if you trim it. That is the reason why LolaSilk fringe wigs come with longer fringes, just so they can be trimmed to suit any type of forehead.

Tip two

Wet the curls with a spray bottle. Water is required to stimulate the curls in Brazilian curly hair. A spray mist can help keep your curls moisturized and more defined throughout the day. Your Brazilian hair won’t look horrible if you don’t spritz some water on it – the curls will just look a little frizzier and larger in volume. It may take a few trials to determine the amount of water you need to obtain the look you desire.

Tip three

Use a light tease to add volume. Straight Brazilian hair wigs benefit greatly from this technique since it gives them an immediate boost in volume. You can use this technique on your fringe or any part of your hair that you feel might need a boost. Using this method too frequently or not gently enough might damage the hair’s cuticles, resulting in breakage and shedding. As a precaution, this should only be used on very special occasions. After washing your hair, don’t forget to use mousse to enhance the teasing effect. Google and YouTube have a plethora of videos on how to tease your hair.

Tip four

To give your hair an elegant touch, use a flat iron. Flat irons are the best way to achieve the perfect straight look that will make your Brazilian hair even more silky and lustrous. Use a heat-protecting product on the hair after it has been washed and allowed to air dry completely before applying the iron. This is critical in preventing hair damage. When using a flat iron, patience is the key. Slide the flat iron down slowly, after you’ve separated small sections of hair. Keep in mind to keep the temperature as low as possible and to avoid performing this style too frequently, or you may end up damaging your gorgeous Brazilian hair, which will begin to break more easily.

Tip five

Make low buns for a natural beach look. The best part about the “beach look” is that it doesn’t have to be perfect, and you don’t even have to add heat to your hair to achieve it. All you have to do is to wash your straight wig using your normal steps (or go to the LolaSilk website for more tips on how to properly wash your Brazilian hair wigs) and when it is almost dry, divide your hair in the middle into two sections from your hairline to the back of your head. You will then twist the hair around many times and make a low bun closer to the back of your ears on both sides. Secure the buns with an elastic or pins, as you prefer. Don’t worry about the hair that is sticking out of the bun; as mentioned earlier, the beach look doesn’t have to be perfect. Keep it like that until the hair is completely dry (more or less 40 min), then undo the buns and pass your fingers through your hair to open the waves and voilà!

Tip six

Add a few well-defined curls to your look. You have options. Using a curler is the quickest method, so if you have one, use it. If you don’t have a curling iron, you can still accomplish a similar look by using good old-fashioned rollers on slightly wet hair and letting them in until your hair is completely dried. To keep the curls in place, release the rollers and mist them with hairspray.

All the advice provided above is applicable to any wig, not just Brazilian ones. Keep in mind that synthetic hair requires heat in order to get the appropriate shape, and that curls will only remain in the hair when it has completely cooled down. For example, after applying the rollers, you may put a steamer on your synthetic hair wigs to provide the necessary heat to generate the curls. Unroll the rollers only once the hair has cooled completely. Not all synthetic hair can withstand high temperatures. All LolaSilk synthetic wigs are heat-resistant, which means you can style them however you like with a blow-dryer and flat iron without fear of damaging them.

Decide on the next wig style you’d want to experiment with and have fun with it!
