Richards Bay FC into Nedbank Cup quarter finals

Richards Bay FC overcame a 0-1 deficit to knock TS Sporting out of the Nedbank Cup

The comeback kings of the GladAfrica National First Division Championship, Richards Bay FC overcame a 0-1 deficit to knock TS Sporting out of the Nedbank Cup with a stunning brace from man of the match, Khanyisa Mayo.

After a poor first half where no goals were scored but NRB were denied a clear penalty after Lwandile Mabuya was brought down, Simo Dladla’s boys only clicked into gear after Akana Chauke had scored from a poorly defended corner to head the hosts into the lead.

Taking the game to their opponents, Richards Bay piled on the pressure, first forcing a penalty which Mayo slotted with ease, followed by a stunning free kick from the edge of the box, full of power and craft.

Although coach Dladla says the league, rather than the cup, is the priority, the Rich Boyz are now into the quarter finals and you wouldn’t bet on them not going all the way.
