Fuel price relief comes with a sting
November fuel price changes bring negligible petrol relief, cheaper diesel and sharp paraffin price increase.
Motorists driving petrol vehicles will see a negligible decrease at the pumps tomorrow (Wednesday), while diesel motorists will be slightly better off and consumers relying on illuminating paraffin will be hard hit.
This as the Department of Mineral Resources and Petroleum announced the official November fuel prices earlier this week.
Both 93 and 95 octane petrol will decrease by a mere one cent per litre; diesel 0.05% sulphur will drop by R1.10/litre, and diesel 0.005% sulphur will drop by R1.20/litre.
But it is South Africans who rely on illuminating paraffin who will bear the brunt of this month’s fuel price fluctuations, as the commodity spikes by R2.75 per litre.
What motorists will pay at the pumps
Inland, 93 octane petrol will cost 29.87/litre and 95 octane R30.24/litre, while motorists at the coast will pay R29.08/litre of 93 octane and R29.37/litre of 95 octane.
Diesel motorists inland will pay R30.84/litre (0.05%) and R31.60/litre for 0.005%, while coastal diesel motorists will pay R29.98 (0.05%) and R30.83 (0.005%).
Illuminating paraffin users will have to fork out R26.16 per litre at the coast and R27.22 inland.
Fuel levy reductions
The government’s reductions to both the General Fuel Levy and the Road Accident Fund (RAF) levy also take effect this Wednesday.
While South Africans would have hoped the temporary levy reductions would have made more of an impact, this has not been the case.
