Cardiothoracic outpatient compliments Melomed five-star treatment
Melomed Hospital cardiothoracic outpatient, Moses Xulu of uMlalazi, says if he could win the Lotto today, he would donate a portion of his winnings to Melomed Hospital.
In 2019, Xulu (49) suffered from tachycardia and was rushed to a local hospital where he spent a week. He was then admitted to Melomed Hospital following the doctor’s recommendations that he undergo a surgical procedure to repair his valve regurgitation.
‘I was afraid to undergo the required operation because I knew that if something went wrong, I could die. But I had no choice; it was a matter of life and death. So I gave the doctors the benefit of the doubt, and agreed to go through with the surgery.
‘It was strange because there were no symptoms of my illness. I was fit, I was playing soccer and I did not feel any pain or have any chest problems.
‘I spent one month and one week at Melomed Hospital.
‘The doctors, nurses and other members of staff treated me incredibly well. I can’t remember experiencing any difficulties while in hospital.
‘The treatment was top-notch, right from the preparation stages through to the surgical ward, intensive care, the recovery ward, and the general ward. I was treated like a king.
‘Dr Ramghulam and Dr Mthiyane were always on time to check on my progress, and the nurses who also monitored my recovery were all very friendly. All staff members at Melomed are dedicated to saving people’s lives.
‘After the procedure, I was put on chronic medication and I have to visit the hospital monthly for check-ups. I have not suffered any side-effects from my chronic medication.’
Xulu added that since the operation, he has not experienced any heart problems.
‘I am taking my medication as prescribed by the doctor, and I am doing very well,’ he said.
