All ready for the hippo

The fourth leg of the MiWay Big Five Series is on Sunday

THE Monzi Hippo Challenge, the fourth leg of the MiWay Big Five Series, is being held on Sunday at the Monzi Golf Club.

Monzi is halfway between Mtubatuba and St Lucia.

The race has sections that are certain to both challenge and reward riders of all skills levels.

The Monzi team have tweaked the 2012 route and now have a track that will be a delight, especially for the rider who has not quite developed thoir climbing skills.

It will be a perfect ride for the whole family as there are no serious hills. There are also no serious descents and therefore riders can expect their legs to work most of the time.

The 10km route is designed to be a fun race aimed at encouraging the next generation’s 50km entrants to begin their riding careers.

This allows smaller children or unfit parents to participate in the race and enjoy the golf course which winds through a series of coastal lowland forests.

Registration is from 6am to 8:30am, with the 50km race starting at 9am, the 25km at 9.10am and the 10km at 9.15am.

The GPS start co-ordinates are S28 25.900 E32 17.924.
