LIFELINE Zululand on Friday received warm response to reports of their financial plight when they were handed a cheque worth R11 000 by the Zululand Yacht Club (ZYC).
The money was raised at the last Canal Craft Challenge event hosted by the club.
‘Firstly, I thank Judy Dearling and her team for the hard work they did in arranging the successful fund-raiser,’ said ZYC Commodore Rod Banwell.
‘It is a pleasure to hand the money over to an organisation that does the region proud in its service to those who are troubled and in need of counselling.
‘If it can help in some way to ease someone’s burden or assist the social workers and caregivers in their work, our only regret is that we could not give much more.
‘I urge other clubs, business and organisations to support the likes of LifeLine in their unselfish labours.’
Banwell was assured by LifeLine counsellor Folkus Durant, who received the cheque, that the donation was much appreciated and would be wisely utilised.
‘It is not just the cash that we are pleased about, it is the realisation that people out there are thinking of us.
‘Often LifeLine staff and volunteers are faced with very demanding situations, so the moral support means as much as anything else.’
