THE Zululand Observer wishes to place on record that South African first class cricketer Kyle Abbott did not ‘lose his father’ to cancer as stated in the article ‘SA cricketer is Zululand Hospice ambassador’ in our Weekend Edition.

This information was sourced directly from the Zululand Hospice poster, which stated ‘I am Kyle Abbott. My family lost a father and grandfather because of cancer.’

It must be noted the ambiguous nature of the wording is open to interpretation. Abbott in fact only lost his grandfather to cancer.

The Zululand Observer wishes to apologise to the family for any inconvenience caused.
