GOING to bed hoping for pleasant dreams soon turned into a nightmare for a Matshana family in the early hours of Wednesday morning when they were held at gunpoint while their 22-year-old daughter was raped across the hall.
The father woke to find two men standing in their bedroom. He and his wife were threatened with a firearm, told to lie down on the floor and not look up.
One of the men walked across the hall where he raped their daughter, while the remaining suspect demanded money, cell phones and bank cards from the parents.
According to the police report the man who raped the young woman had placed a pillow over his face, hiding his identity.
‘This behaviour suggests he could possibly be a wanted suspect,’ said Empangeni SAPS spokesperson Captain Mbongeni Mdlalose.
The parents had to listen to their daughter’s cries and screams for help, but were powerless to intervene.
Once the men had retrieved the possessions they fled the scene.
