Brackenham kidnapping fears allayed

Police investigate case where woman was threatened by four men.

REPORTS of an alleged kidnapping incident in Brackenham this month have been dismissed by police.

According to Richards Bay SAPS spokesperson Captain Debbie Ferreira, no kidnapping case was opened, however, police were investigating a matter where a woman reported having escaped to safety after being threatened by four men.

Ferreira said a 25-year-old woman from Boston Bend in Brackenham reported that four unknown men came to her door. An argument unfolded and they grabbed her hand and tried to pull her to a vehicle which was parked nearby.

‘She screamed to alert her neighbours to the situation and managed to free herself and ran to safety.

‘We do not want to create panic in the community but urge members of the public to always remain vigilant and take necessary safety measures.’
