Fraud forms bust

Cops bust certificate print shop

IN a major anti-crime success, police on Friday afternoon made two arrests during a raid on a shop printing fraudulent certificates.

Acting on information, members of the Crime Intelligence unit and Richards Bay Visible Policing squad swooped on a cell phone outlet in Taxi City where matric certificates, training certificates, diplomas, documents from various Government departments and salary advices were being copied and sold at R1 500 apiece.

The two male suspects arrested are being detained at the Richards Bay Police Station and will appear in court today (Monday).

Printers, computers and other equipment found at the scene will be sent away for forensic investigation.

‘We urge members of the public not to make themselves guilty of an offence by purchasing false documents,’ said Richards Bay SAPS communications officer, Capt Debbie Ferreira.
