DURING the early hours of Friday morning a 31-year-old Ingwavuma Correctional Officer shot and killed both his children.
The children aged four and 10 months were at their grandmother’s home when the man arrived.
According to police reports, the officer was on second watch duty when he left work and went to the home of his mother-in-law, who had been caring for his children.
He said he was leaving with the children and subsequently shot and killed them before fleeing the scene.
According to the reports his wife is a student based in Pietermaritzburg.
The man is still on the run and the motive for killing his children is unknown.
‘A case of murder has been opened and an investigation is underway,’ said KwaZulu-Natal SAPS spokesperson, Captain Thulani Zwane.
