Man drowns at Cape Vidal
Jayalogan Chetty (40) died while snorkelling at Cape Vidal in the iSimangaliso Wetland Park.

DURBAN resident, Jayalogan Chetty (40) drowned on Friday while snorkelling at Cape Vidal with his partner, Asha Thakor in the iSimangaliso Wetland Park.
According to an iSimangaliso statement, Chetty and Thakor entered the water to snorkel at about midday on a low tide. Both were wearing life jackets. The couple started to make their way back to the beach on the incoming tide with Chetty swimming behind Thakor. When Thakor looked behind her, she noticed Chetty floating face down some distance away. A paddle-ski pulled Chetty ashore where he was given CPR by doctors who were on the beach at the time. With nothing more that could be done, the medical professionals pronounced Chetty dead. Park staff remained with Thakor, comforting her until family members arrived. Chetty suffered from asthma and had apparently used his pump prior to going snorkelling. Post-mortem results will confirm the cause of death.
